Introducing the Altius App - Your home for wellbeing and care

Bringing counselling bookings, entitlements and wellbeing content into one place — with easy sign-up

3 MIN READ

A simpler path to support: the AltiusLife app is now the Altius app

When someone decides they're ready to talk to a psychologist, the moments that follow matter. Every extra step — a login that doesn't carry over, a browser window that opens in a new tab, a code they can't find — is another chance for that decision to lose momentum. Reducing friction in those first few minutes is one of the most practical things any wellbeing program can do.

That's the thinking behind the change we're making to our app. The AltiusLife app is becoming the Altius app, and the headline difference is that booking a counselling session now happens inside the app itself.

What's changing

Until now, the AltiusLife app has done one job well: delivering wellbeing content and features that help people build healthier habits. Booking, though, sat slightly to the side. Access was provided through an integrated content page that linked out to a web browser, where users signed in separately to reach EAP services.

It worked, but it asked people to change lanes at exactly the wrong moment. The updated Altius app closes that gap. Online booking is now built in, so browsing an article about managing anxiety and booking a session with a psychologist happen in the same place, under the same login.

One code, one sign-up

Sign-up has also been simplified. New users download the Altius app and register with their existing booking registration code — one code across Altius PeopleSense services, rather than different pathways for different parts of the program.

For people supporting a workforce, this is a meaningful simplification. Communications teams can point to a single app and a single code. Managers can share it in a conversation without hunting for the right link. And employees don't need to work out which service they technically need before they can get started — they sign up once and find their way from there.

What you can do in the app

Once signed in, users can:

  • Make and manage bookings. Appointments can be booked, viewed and managed directly in the app, without switching to a browser.

  • See entitlement status. People can check what they're entitled to before they book — removing a common source of hesitation, particularly around cost and session limits.

  • Book for dependents. Family members covered by the program can be booked in through the same account.

  • Access evidence-based wellbeing content. The AltiusLife library of more than 1,000 articles and guides carries across, with bookmarking for favourites.

  • Set notifications for Life Actions. Prompts encourage small, consistent wellbeing habits between sessions rather than only at the point of crisis.

  • Update their profile and manage their own details.

There's also a services directory with detailed session information, so users understand what a particular type of support actually involves before committing to it.

A branded, familiar experience

The relaunched app supports a customer-branded EAP experience, with organisation-specific content, articles and announcements. This matters more than it might first appear. Uptake of psychological support is closely tied to whether people feel the service belongs to their workplace and is genuinely for them. An app that looks and speaks like their own organisation, carrying its announcements and its content, does quiet work in making support feel legitimate and available rather than remote and clinical.

What existing users need to do

Nothing! Existing app users will see the AltiusLife app update seamlessly to the new Altius app. Their current logins will continue to work, and the new features simply appear. There's no re-registration, no lost bookmarks, and no gap in access.

Why this matters for access

The barriers to getting psychological support are rarely just about availability of clinicians. They're about knowing what you're entitled to, knowing what a session will be like, knowing how to start, and being able to act in the short window when you feel ready. Each of those is addressed here: entitlement visibility, a services directory that sets expectations, a single registration code, and booking available at the moment of intent.

The wellbeing content plays a role too. Most people don't move from "fine" to "I need counselling" in one step. A library people already use for sleep, stress or relationship content becomes a natural on-ramp — the support is already in their hand, and booking is a tap away rather than a decision to seek out something new.

Getting started

New users can download the Altius app and register with their booking registration code. Existing users will be updated automatically. Either way, counselling and wellbeing support is now in one place — and one step closer.
