Presenting Issues

All our clinicians are skilled in working with presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, anger, sleep disturbance, stress and burnout, trauma, alcohol and substance use, adjustment, self-esteem, workplace issues, panic attacks, and more.

We also have clinicians who have a special interest in areas such as neurodiversity, gender identity and sexuality, perinatal mental health, relationship issues, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, pain management, disordered eating, childhood issues, and parenting.

Process

During your first appointment, your clinician will complete a detailed assessment with you which includes completing some screening tools followed by a semi-structured discussion on what is happening. Therapy is collaborative and together you will set goals, and your clinician will come up with a treatment plan.

Types of Therapy

Our clinicians only use evidence-based strategies that are suitable for the presenting problem you have discussed. Some types of therapy that all our clinicians are skilled in include (but not limited to):

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy — CBT

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy — ACT

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • Mindfulness skills

  • Problem-Solving skills

  • Emotion Regulation skills

We also have clinicians skilled in more specialised areas such as Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Exposure Therapy, and trauma-focused treatments such as Eye-Movement and Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), or Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT).
